Perched in the Pacific, straddling the equator, are the magnificent Galapagos Islands. From their volcanic origins each island is of a different age with changing landscape, flora and fauna tied in part to the isolation of the islands and the unique environments. The wildlife, highly protected by Ecuador, has little fear of people and comes in a myriad of forms.
During a February 2019 visit to these amazing islands Bill Barton made a 4-minute video set to a soundtrack of traditional Ecuadorian music. The colorful sequence offers glimpses of giant tortoises, vibrant tropical fish, sea lions, marine iguanas and blue footed boobies. It gives a sense of why these islands are so special and deserve our protection. To watch the 4-minute video, click here. You will be glad you did!
